Hi. I am putting a 1984 302 Non-roller block in my 1992 F150 4x4. we used the 1992 fuel inject and heads and putting in a comp cams 31-255-5 SD non-roller cam in it. I need to use the distributor from the 92 roller motor. My question is do i need to change the distributor gears or will the roller dist. gear work with the non roller comp cam. Thanks!!!
yea i know that but the gears are cut the same i know my 302 is a 86 t-bird motor and i use a dis for a 75 f100 with a 302 the 86 is a roller and the 75 is flat tappet but it still works
The gears are certainly cut the same, loggthered, but if they aren't the right material, then one of the gears will chew the other one up. I would be safe and swap the gears.

You're 100% correct here. loggthered is mistaken in his assumption that a steel cam gear will work with a cast iron camshaft. The steel gear will wear out the camshaft gear.
Thanks Guys!!! After speaking to the comp cams tech he advised me that i would have to change the dist. gear from the steel roller to a cast iron off a non roller. So the answer is Yes you have to change gears. Thanks again. I'm OUT!!!!!
