A Custom Cab is an upscale version of a Standard Cab.

Custom Cabs have a foam seat cushion, nicer upholstery, two sun visors, left door armrest (right was optional), anodized aluminum (or 1961, chrome) grille, stainless steel windshield reveal mouldings, sweep speedometer with round fuel & temp gauges (1965/66 F100/250 only), Custom Cab nameplates, horn ring, stainless steel hubcaps (F100 2WD only, F100 4WD-rear only), and other fall-der-all.

Chrome front bumper, tu-tone paint, side mouldings were not part of the Custom Cab package, were available as an option on both Standard & Custom Cabs.

All outside mirrors, AM Radio, Economy or Deluxe heater, lap seat belts, rear bumpers: chrome or painted contour (Styleside), painted channel (Flaresides) were an option on all models, as was the spare wheel...and the tire!

There were myriad other options as well...waaay too many to list.

Hey Bill, am I right in assuming that on a '61 you can't tell a CC from the warranty tag info?
I'm looking at your list of stuff up there and while I have some of it(chrome grille, bumper, cab script), I don't have the windshield moulding, passenger side visor, no arm rests at all, and just the horn button with no ring. The heater is a bit of a mystery too, as it has the 2 extra control cables, but no fresh air inlet from the outside, just a passenger side vent to match the driver's side one.
There's a pic of my tag in my album, but I searched the thread where I posted it before and no mention was made of the CC option.

There's no BODY code on 1961 Warranty Plates, so there is no way to tell if the truck is a Custom Cab...or not.

No horn ring, no w/shield reveal mouldings, no armrests, drivers side visor only = Standard Cab.

Sometime over the past 49 years, a previous owner could have added the chrome grille, Custom Cab nameplates. The chrome front bumper was an option for Custom & Standard Cabs.

Two cables mounted to a bracket under the dash: Optional Deluxe Fresh Air heater. One cable opens/closes the damper door, t'other cable opens/closes the heater water valve.

The optional Economy recirculating heater only had one cable in the dash, operated the blower switch. You had to raise the hood, manually open/close the heater water shut-off valve.

The heater, IMO is not original to your truck.

The problem with these old rolling piles of misery that have had multiple owners is...even if you think you know all about them, you find out real quick...you don't.

People swap parts around more often that women change their minds. For example, on your truck, I see DuraSpark ignition, a crossflow radiator, fan shroud, what appears to be a 302 or 351W under the hood.

The original engine was the anemic 223 I-6.

The number of different accessories offered for these trucks was far greater than the number of available calibers of Colt SAA's...and that's saying something.

btw: I wonder if your truck was assembled on a Monday or Friday. Whoever stamped the GVW on the Warranty Plate was out of their mind!

17,000 lbs. GVW on an F100 is in two words, Im Possible. Not even an F350 had the high of a GVW. That's the GVW for F500/600's. The highest GVW for 1961/66 F100 2WD's = 5,000 lbs.

Just to add to Bill's comments. Chrome moulding around windshield; can be remove over the years as folks have there windshield replace; and either the glass shop orders the wrong gasket or PO's to cheap to replace with proper gasket. Too cheap might be the wrong word to use; sometimes its a Pita to replace chrome moulding trim on either the front windshield "Slicks" or even back glass on Bumps & Dents!
Just my .02 worth.

Like I said in another thread, the drive train is '82 F100 from the rad cap to the 3rd member. I woulda kept the 223, but it gave up the ghost on me Memorial Day '09.
The majority of the truck shows the original(?) Cal-Trans orange paint on the underside except for the rt frt fender, cross bar above the grille(maybe the chrome grille/bumper was added at the same time?)and the hood. Core support and rt inner fender are both kinda mangled under the new outer parts.
The heater? Who knows? It was bypassed when I got the truck, and I hooked it up, expecting to have a puddle of coolant in the cab. 3 years later, still working fine, cables operate as you state.
The gasket around the windshield has several sizeable gaps and lots of white paint on it, so I'm thinking probably original, or replaced 35 years ago.
The 3 speed was long gone when I took posession and when I took up the carpet(indoor/outdoor)during the swap I could see the hole someone cut with tin snips/die grinder/air chisel for the 4 speed it came to me with. That's been fixed now.
The only other questionable thing is the rear springs. One side has 5 leaves, the other has 9. I'd like to find a good set of 9 leaf springs as I plan on pulling a small travel trailer. Looking for a decent, used V8 hood emblem too, even though I know that '61s with a V8 used the gear/lightning bolt one.
It ain't original now, so I'm gonna fix it like I want it.
As far as the SAA, .44-40, 7 1/2" barrel, and none of that poser nickel plating for me, thank you.
