I stated my issue in a previous thread and mchan sounded pretty definate that I have a lifter bearing failure. I at least expect to get close to the longevity as other people in my line of work with other makes.

Reason: It was me venting and Bismic did not deserve my comments
No busting of chops anywhere in my posts. Not scrutinizing anything either. I am addressing a "lower end" statement and that alone. Folks that read this don't need to panic about that. I will modify the above post to ensure that no one assumes I am busting your chops.
I agree, I know you are an asset on here and I apoligize. I'm looking for something (or someone) to be upset with,,,, when what it comes down to is that,,,, its a machine,,,,, machines break. Once again, I apoligize. I'm on mobile but I will try and edit my post as well
Bismic is more than an asset...him and the others who dispense advice for free on here are absolute life savers to those of us who like to wrench on our own stuff, and don't have a clue where to start. I've spent about $5000 on my truck in the last 4 years, and it would have been way over $10,000 if I hadn't have done it all myself.
I know how frustrating these things can be, I was replacing an up-pipe a while back, and had to sit down and pour myself a very stiff vodka and coke, and chill before something went through the window or door of the truck. I just did standpipes and a couple of injectors a few days ago, and my truck has never ran or sounded better...I love driving it again, and I'm probably going to make a border run this afternoon to pick up a high stall converter for my 1979 F150.
Just looking through the FTE website and seen this old post come up. Figured I would offer an update.
The truck started knocking so I pulled the head. The #1 piston was all chewed up. With the help of a friend and Matty169 which was a huge help and a few other guys on this website I was able to pull the motor and replace it with a rebuild from blackwater. (without pulling the cab)
It took me 30+ hours and $7+k later and it is back running like a champ. This truck has taken years off my life and will never be worth selling for the money and time I got into it.
None the less I know a lot more about Diesels especially these 6.0's. If it wasn't for this site I would have sold it for scrap.
Could also be a lifter or valve problem. Lifters are known to go out on these engines. The lifter roller needle bearings fail and fall out. Usually they get sucked up in the low pressure oil pump and cause a no start or a catastrophic failure.quote]
I had roller bearing failure on my well maintained no mods '06 @ 40k. My dealer said roller bearing failure was not common. He didn't say lifters, but I think that was what caused it. My truck sounded like this:
How common is lifter failure and what if anything can you do about it? Synthetic Oil? I have a remaned motor now and I'm waiting for it to blow up.
Hey guys so I had this exact noise going on was at work was an idiot and tried to drive home not having a clue the nozzle could've popped off and ended up in my cylinder until I did tons of research about this knock and what it could be.... anyway... cylinder one injector was replaced by Ford three weeks ago got to work noticed it knocking couldn't hear it while drive was dark couldn't see it smoking like a banchee grey and black smoke while knocking and not much of a power loss at that time threw codes contribution balance fault and a misfire code eventually well I drove home 20 miles(ya I know stupid move and now I'll be paying for it) got to a stop sign truck dies just after the knocking stopped refused to start again threw code to low oil pressure to start so I jumped out to find under the hood on driver side around the dipstick side covered I mean layered with oil I'm thinking the nozzle came off and I melted through the piston would this cause oil to flood out of my dipstick ( could be from turbo I guess seals failing but no oil inside intake)as well as the no start.... Will Ford seeing as they are the ones that replaced the injector that has a two year warranty replace the piston if that is the issue I feel like they should since thier nozzle malfunctioned and is the one that cause the piston to be destroyed other than me driving it could it be the lifter roller bearing got into the low pressure pump busted a line Idk I'm clueless have yet to have it torn into help??? 06 f250 bullet proofed egr and oil cooler head studs 60k ago blue spring kit hpop just replaced recently turbo rebuilt 20k ago

Your best bet is to start a new Thread on your Truck , this thread is old and the PO stated what he did for the fix.
