Here is the story. Purchased an 03 w/ 200K miles. truck ran poorly on cool/cold starts until it was warmed up then ran great. Tolerated it for a while then it started missing. Ran injector test and came back number 7 injector bad. Replaced injector with a new/reman unit and had the inductive heat flash done right after that. Truck started and ran flawless for a couple of days then Saturday was driving and truck lost power and died. Turned it over, it started and was running very rough and smoking and died again. Wouldn't turn over (like hydrolocked with diesel in cylinder). Let it set, then it will turn over. Oil smells badly of diesel. I ran another injector test and it comes back ok but when it buzzes the number 7 injector it doesn't sound like the rest. Any chance this injector is bunk and dumping all the diesel in that cylinder and starving the others. Truck will start but runs very rough and smokes (like raw fuel). Any suggestions.
Sounds like the O ring got pinched or they didn't replace it when they replaced the injector.
If you did the work yourself pull the injector off it is pretty easy to tell if the o ring is bad. If you had someone do the work take it back to them and make them fix it.
Thanks for the reply. I changed the injector myself and it had new o-rings on it. Just kind of wondered what could have gone wrong 3 days later or what I could expect when I pull the injector. Anyone have a problem with the the reman. injectors?
