Ford005, You can see in my signature what I'm pulling. I'm having trouble with high EGT's. I've considered water injection for a long time. How often do you have to fill up? What is your 'fast spool turbo', is it a smaller housing (1") on a stock turbo? That's what I ran for years and had really good luck with it until I wore out the turbo bearing. I then went with a D66 which is suppose to be better but I have very little low end boost and very high EGT's. I do have a up pipe leak and bought bellow up pipes but haven't put them on yet. Where did you buy your set up? Too many questions, sorry.

that up pipe leak will kill your egts. i started a thread on here because my egts were sky high. turned out it was my up pipe.
I looked at their kits, but decided to just build my own. I got everything from them other than the EGT probe and pump. The pump was on back order so I picked up a Cooling Mist pump fairly cheap. At the time, it seemed like every one's pumps were out of stock.
The turbo was a rebuilt unit with a 1.00 housing & a Banks compressor wheel. I wanted to replace it because my original had 200k on it and wanted to try the fast spool. I don't know how I feel about it, it seems slower/less powerful than before. I did a bunch of other work at the same time (including the gauges), so it is hard to compare them. I haven't checked, but I may have some up-pipe leaks as well. I am waiting to get my new 2 post lift before I mess with it...my knees and back can't take working on it, so I am going to just lift the cab to do it, LOL! I looked at the D66 and was torn on what I wanted.
I drove 1500 miles up the 5 from San Diego, CA to Burlington, WA. The bed of my truck was loaded with most of my tools and pulling a 20' trailer with a Mountaineer and a bunch of parts strapped on it. I probably averaged 60-65 mph; definitely not the slowest guy out there. I left with a full tank (6 gal), refilled once and I still had some left when I got home.
Your right about the up pipe leaks causing high EGT Mountaineer27. I'm on a trip now and will have to wait to get home to put on the bellow up pipes. I also ordered a new map sensor, I'll see if that improves my 'no boost, very little boost' low end problem.
Ford005, is your kit sort of like DevilsOwn 'Diesel Universal EGT Stage 2'? That's not a whole lot of water being used on that trip. With mine I'll have to take a 55 gal barrel, lol. I'm like you on the turbo, the jury is still out. I have to get some things fixed to see if its the turbo or not.

Yes, basically I built the Stage 2 EGT, with the 6 gal tank, float switch and another Y connector to use three nozzles. You also need a separate Pyro probe; you can't piggy back off the one you use for your gauge. If you talk to them, you can get the nozzles changed to what ever size you want. I just looked at what I ordered, and I used two 4 gph nozzles, not 3 gph ones.
I was expecting to use more water also. If you have room in your bed, you could use a 20 gal plastic fuel cell.
Manifold Absolute Pressure a input signal to the PCM. I read this:The MAP sensor reads the pressure in the intake manifold (through a hose) and sends a signal to the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) that tells the PCM to adjust the injector pulse width to fit the amount of turbo boost. Essentially it controls the fuel/air mixture as the turbo boost increases.
I just thought I would try to start replacing parts. The stock turbo with the 1" housing would get right after it when I was starting out with a load. Now I have to get it up to 2,500rpm to get the damn turbo going so I can get going. Before the R's are up I'm just blowing black smoke. If my bellow up pipes and new intakes don't cure it I'm going to throw the D66 in the trash and get another stock turbo. I told that to Ryan Bean and he didn't offer any help in solving my problem. Some of these vendors are quick to take your money and little or no help in getting it to work. I guess we all have to be genius's and know ahead of time what will work and how to put it on before we spend our hard earned money!!
im wondering if my MAP is going out too. i can barley hit 11psi flooring it. it seems like since ive moved out here to pa the truck has been going down hill on the power.
Sorry it took so long, but I did catch up with Cookie88.
Here is what he told me about why he pulled it off and his impression of water/meth injection copied from a PM.
Lol.....there was no problem with it at all, other than I was scared of it. After I did the injectors and oil pump I popped a head gasket (without the water). After I did the HG's and studs I was very cautious about the cylinder pressures for a good long time afterward, and just never put it back on.
I was actually quite happy with the system, tho routing all the plumbing and electrics is a hassle. As is refilling the reservoir every few days. But other than that I think water injection is a good bang for the buck mod.
