Hi everybody, I was recently talking to a good friend of my dad the other day and we got to talking about water/meth injection for my 04 6.0 turbo diesel. He said that he has made plenty of homeade injection kit for different vehicles over the years. He said to get a tank that can stay sealed and withstand the 30lbs of boost that my truck makes. Then run a line from the pressure side of the turbo system into the top of the tank. Then run another line from the bottom of the tank back into the suction side of the turbo system with a nozzle on the end. He said the boost pressure from the turbo pressurizes the tank and forces the water/meth into the intake tube. It sounds pretty clever to me. The only questions I have are, what nozzles should I get and will running the water/meth mix through my turbo hurt it? I ave an SCT tuner and my truck makes about 475hp and about 800ftlbs. What kinf of flow do I need when I will only be using 30lbs of boost? Thanks for your help in advance.
For one, you want the nozzle as close to the engine as possible or else it runs the risk of puddling. Also, you want to be able to shut it off 5 minutes before you turn off the truck for the same basic reason. As for pressure, 30LBS?!?! Look into the kits. I've got the Snow Performance Stage III system. The pump is 150PSI pump!! You NEED to make a fine mist for it to work efficently.
Also, take a look at this forum's sponsor: http://www.alcoholinjectionsystems.com/ I'm spack dab in the middle of installing one of their kits right now. I think you might find that a system that is tunable will perform over a greater range of operating conditions, which I expect apply to your application. Make sur eyou get a big[ger] tank as you are in the boost more frequently.
