I have the non-fancy (non-optional) screen.
You do have the ability with the standard screen to activate the gear display.
I currently do this each time I put it into drive.

However, I do NOT have the flash yet so I don't know if this will be a feature for the standard display. I sure hope so.

Cool, let us know if it behaves the same way. Easy way to tell your PCM version. Sorry about the condescending "non-fancy" remark...

I've got the "non-fancy" screen on my XLT. It was upgraded yesterday and yes, the gear display status is retained across selecter changes or shutdowns.

Sorry for my ignorance on this but what exactly is the difference between the 68.08 and the 69? is there a list of items that each one addresses? Please enlighten me.... How do I know what updates I got? - Perhaps Power StrokeHD can help here.

GMUGNIER... The 68.08 and 69.01 it the software release required on the Ford Dealers PC to install the flash.

Here is a link to what the flash contains... If you look at the first paragraph is says either release can be used to install the flash.

Hope this helps

So why did the previous member want the 68 first and then was going "back" for the 69? if both do the same thing that seems redundant.

Does anyone have a copy of the customer sheet that they are supposed to hand out after the flash?

It sounds like the dealer don't know what he's taking about. The document clearly states it can be applied with either version.

When I had mine done all they gave me was the service ticket stating that 10B17 had been installed.

The last sentence in the 2 page PDF document that the link is posted above states:

Note: Remind Dealership Service Managment that they must provide a copy of the Customer Information Sheet to the Customer.
