First I gotta ask - where do you need to go faster than 80 MPH on public roads?
Sure you do when those funny looking cars with lights are chasing you
I'll bet his tires need to be high speed balanced-my factory tires were very jumpy/vibration but problem was taken care of when I put on my new tires and balanced correctly. Chris
mine passanger seat shakes like crazy at 80 and just had them balanced again for the second time. I can fill it in my seat at times I head there was a TSB about this anyone else know about it
My 2010 SCREW just started a vibration at 2100-2200 rpm. On the highway this equates to 75-80 mph. Shakes the whole truck and is very perceptible through the front seats.
I had a '04 F150 that had a similar issue in the 45-55 mph range, but there was a TSB for it that called for the drive shaft to be R&R'd. Problem never came back after that.
2010 F150 lariat 4x4 with 18" stock wheels. Rides like a dream up to 80, then it starts to vibrate.
Suggestions?
How many miles on the tires and truck?
Outside of mechanical issues tires are the most common cause of vibration at highway speeds. Tires can be out of balance conditions at 80 mph but not as noticeable at slower speed. Sometimes a tire can have a condition where the cord can separate at a higher speed. Out of round conditions can cause vibration. The other contributing factors are all in the drive train.
Ive never owned a truck that didn't have a slight tire vibration above 80 mph. Very slight in most cases, most wouldn't notice it. Always seemed to be the nature of owning a vehicle with a bit of sidewall on the tires.
