At about 60mph I start to get a vibration throught the vehicle. Its not in the steering wheel but the seats have a little vibration and you can see the child seats start to shake some. Stops above 80 and doesnt get real bad, just a little shimmy.
I rotated and balanced the tires with only 6k on them and its no help. Just needing an idea of where to start looking next: driveshafts, u joints, sway bar, etc.
I had similar issues on my 02 Ex, checked about everything including re- balance twice. After a month, I had my wheels and tires balanced on the truck (old school)... The rear tires were causing my vibrations.
I had the same exact problem and after several hundred dollars, here is what I found. The vibration only happened when I rolled down both rear windows and left the front windows rolled up. Once you roll down one or both of the front windows (even just a few inches) the vibration goes away.
The wind entering the rear windows must be bouncing off the the rear hatch and causing a pressure differential thus causing the vibration.
I figured this out because when I had my dog (Duke) in the Ex I would roll the rear windows down for him but leave the fronts up for me. Then when I rolled the rear windows up the vibration would stop.
Got one to. Sometimes its real bad and others its not. Doesn't do it all the time. Head scratching continues. I never roll my windows down so I can mark that off list.
Same problem here. Vibration is maybe the wrong word. Its more of a shimmy. It starts around 65mph and gets worse around 75-80. Nothing in the steering wheel. Feels like its coming from the rear, I think.
From my experience it sure feels like a wheel balance issue but I'm not hugely familiar with a solid rear axle/leaf spring setup and wheel balance issues, so I don't know what effect out-of-balance tires have.
I'm getting the tires rotated and balanced this week to see if that helps. They are under a Big O warranty so its a no cost attempted fix.
