Does anyone have a good shot of how the fuel lines are supposed to run from the mechanical pump to the carb? The PO ran this one all discombobulated and I fear fire is a real concern. I'd like to get it run correctly this weekend.
You don't say what you have but here is an illustration from the Ford master parts catalog. Its kinda generic but should give you an idea.
If you need to make a new one its easy. Measure how long the tube needs to be including the bends add a little as a safety factor. Go to the parts store and get a piece of 5/16" straight brake line that length or longer. The steel tubing is annealed so its easy to bend. Its already double flared on both ends, one end has a regular nut on it, the other end has a long nut. Cut the flare off one end and then bend the tube as needed. Then cut the excess length off. You can take a flaring tool and put a slight bulge in the carb end to help retain the fuel hose.

I had to do this just last week. I went to Advance and did just what Mike suggested. I got a 51" piece of tubing which was $6.00 and bought a tube bender for about $15. I had an advantage since I could use my old one a a guide but it does hug the block pretty close and comes out right in front of the distributor. Try to keep the bends conservative though since I found the tubing easy to crimp on the 90 degree bends.
