Check out Autozone for a reman. brake booster with and without master cylinder. This is the booster if you are keeping your original drums all around. Without master cylinder $88 after a $21 core or $103 without core. With master cylinder $126 after $35 core or $162. I installed mine in about a 1/2 hour. You'll need the firewall brackets (not included) and a rubber seal for the firewall.
Wher to get the brackets and seal? Are they available aftermarket?
Good question. The brackets will be the biggest hurdle. I was able to get mine used on e-bay for $19. They show up from time to time on ebay but not very often. I'm pretty sure that when I was looking, I had found a source for a new set, but fot the life of me I can't remember where. As for the seal, I bought a seal from pony parts for $6 that was meant for a mustang. Others have suggested making one out of an inner tube and I see no reason why that wouldn't work just fine.
Got my booster from Dennis Carpenter Obsolete ford. It will not bolt right up It sat in storage for years until I saw someone selling brackets for power brake booster 66 f-100. I got the brackets from ebay bolted up and worked fine. The hard part about this is getting the brackets. Good luck.
That will work, however if you are keeping all 4 drums then there will probably have to be some minor modifications. The stock booster unit had a single reservoir master cylinder and hence one line for all 4 brakes. I suppose if you used this kit you would need to either plug one of the reserviors or connect the two reservoirs with a y or run a seperate set of lines for the back and the front. Don't take my word for it though, I'm just guessing. They do show the needed brackets and what looks like a seal so I assume they come with this kit. The booster unit I bought was the single reservoir type and was a direct drop in with no modifications other then buying the brackets and seal. One nice thing about this set, you've found, if you decide to upgrade to discs later you can.
