I asked the question a little while ago and this is the response I got.
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...sfer-case.html

I was wrong on what number I guessed that the other model transfer case started with, it would be starting with the number 1.

My other problem is that I bought a used yoke from a guy that doesn't fit my T case out put shaft, the yoke inside diameter for the shaft is smaller then mine. I called him last night and he said that that it came off a T case from a 97 F350 dually that has the plate over the side of it for the pto option. Is the pto T case a completely different animal so the 4x4 output shaft is smaller? He said it is the fixed shaft on the main drive shaft like what my 96 has.

I have "heard" that the 350 t-cases are different than the F250 ones even though they are both 1356. Yet i ave also hear they are the same and you just have to "persuade" the front yolk on to the front shatf. I have never tried switch ing yolks. I am lucky enough to have several F350 t-cases

I am guessing that the 1356 is the earlier model T case and the 4407 came in the later year obs 3/4 and 1 tons. Wish I could buy the yoke new but that does not appear to be an option any more. I will try and post a pict of them.

Here is a picture of my 1996 f250 yoke and the 1997 f350 yoke that came from a dually that the t case had the pto cover on the side. The 96 is on the left.

BW 1345 was 82 to 87 F250 and F350 trucks
BW 1356 was 87 to 97 F250 and F350 trucks
BW 4407 was 96 and 97 E4OD trucks only

NV 271/273 was 99 and up trucks

There are a few other transfer cases out there that were used, but the above covers 95% of Fords F series.

So the 1356 has a smaller yoke than the 4407. Dang it... guess I'll be shortening my 4407 shaft

That sucks if you need to be auto to auto. Maybe the one I got was from a 5 speed truck, will need to ask.
