Scatgo in another thread you asked for measurements of some SD front springs. I measured the ones sitting here in the shop and from eye to eye as the crow flies (not following the curve of the spring) they are 54.5 inch long. The center bolt hole is within a half inch of being centered. 2 leafs in each pack

scatgo, sure, i'll go out and snap a couple of views now. Give me a bit and i'll post or send them somehow.

On edit:
Well, a minor setback, i had left my camera out in the truck for the last couple of days, and it's pretty frosty, enough so that it wouldn't let me even snap one photo before shutting itself off. Once the battery revives, and the condensation from bringing it inside dries out, i'll get a couple of photos.

I don't think it'll be much help if it's obsolete at Ford, but here are the part numbers on the sticker - E5TZ-5A316-A, and cast into the part itself, i would presume is the older number - E6TA-5A316-AA.

BTW - powerstrokeshop still shows it in their system for $60.66, but i suppose if you tried to order one they might email back saying it's unavailable. Worth a try though.

Here's a good illustration of it to give you the idea of the shape. It's #15

And here's the page it was on, i used a 97 F350, odd though, they list the price on that page as $49.15
Your Premiere Source for Ford Truck Parts and Accessories

Will get back on here once i get some photos, probably tomorrow though.

if it can't be cast, that part wouldn't be hard to machine.

THANKS!!!!!!!! Great info. I have been having no luck with the junk yards and If it looks like buying the part new wont happen I will have to get a block of steel fire up the old milling machine and make the part. The pics will really help if it goes that way.

Have you looked at the same piece from a leaf sprung super duty. It's not exactly the same but it is close enough so that with a little work with a handheld grinder one of the guys from TDS was able to make it work.

Yea, thats plan b. I crawled under every Ford we have at work with a tape measure and it looks like you might be able to get one to work. And we have one truck that was destroyed and I am sure the boss would not mine me taking it but I am going to make a few more calls to see if I can get the right one before I go to plan b.

I just happend to spot one on ebay tonight, but it's packaged with a track bar and mount. Good if you need those two parts too, not so if you don't.

Anyway, here it is
eBay Motors: 86-97 ford dana 60 track bar and lower spring plate (item 150319389084 end time Jan-11-09 12:25:07 PST)

Thanks anyway but I got the part from this guy https://www.1stfordparts.com/oe_parts_catalog.html for $60.00. Powerstroke.com wanted over 100!!! The part # you gave me really helped.

The guy at fordparts.com had it dropped shipped from a company called Vintage Parts inc. I went to there website and they sell it for 80!? Not sure how I got it for 60 but it worked out good. thanks for all the help

I don't know why salvage yards and guys scrapping trucks don't grab that part and save it with the axle.

You sure can't install one without it.
