PowerStroke - "the auxiliary electric heater is enabled if needed (diesel only)." How does one know if the feature is enabled or disabled? Is it possible that those who's auxiliary heat is not working is due to it not being enabled?

The auxiliary heater is designed to work seamlessly with the heating system, so it has no real intication as to when it is working or not. As far as "enable" in this case it would be better explained as a "call for" or a "command on" since the AHCM is not a flashable/programmable module and is technically always "enabled" if it is installed in the vehicle...
The most likely reason for the AHCM to not be working is it is not meeting one or more of the required conditions for operation...

Right, that makes sense. I was wondering if it was switchable in the PCM. Thanks.
Yeah after I posted I started thinking about that. And then when you put the key actually in the inginiton it probably resests itself and turns it off so you can select what you want. Our weather has been cold but not wet, so the only way for me to tell if the mirrors were on would be if I saw a light.
Hi,
It has been real cold here lately -29C & -46C with windchill. I can tell you that the seat heater comes on in the auto position or any other heater setting. Does not have to be in the auto setting. Also, really like the supplimental heater option with this weather. The outside mirrors also are on and clear very well when using the remote start.
My remote start does not start the seats. Maybe its a canadian thing...
I have the same problem in the lower 48 (Virginia). My Remote Start also does not start the seat heater, nor does it even heat the truck cab. Even if I leave the setting in AUTO before shutting down for the night.
It was 24 degF this am, and I could see my breath in the truck when I got in after it ran in the driveway for 10-15 minutes...
I've been starting mine earlier and seems to be working more like I expected. My friend questioned me why people let a vehicle run with no one in it. I think she's letting her hybrid cloud her judgment!

-20F in Canada. My truck is up to room temperature within 20 minutes and the seats are warm. (15minutes with command start and 5 minutes with the key in bacause it automatically shuts off) Also, forgot to plug it in the other day and fired up like a beauty. I plan on installing a new command start next week cuz the range on the stock one is like 30 feet.
