Yeah it isn't good. I was about to drop a "Lincoln Log" when he told me where he dropped the bolt...

Even if it just laying at the bottom I wouldn't want that thing bouncing around in there....

man, i feel for ya. I'm the other fella who dropped the torx bit while doing an injector. I'm at my wits end. I used a snap on scope but it wasn't bright enough (loaned from a buddy), so i may run over to home depot and take a gander at the Milwaukee one tomorrow. I may have gotten a little big for my britches and now i'm in trouble. My wife is supportive, but i know she thinks I'm retarded... good luck.

Same here brother. I picked up my scope from oreilly auto for around 100. Has nice bright led and comes with magnet attachment.

I see the common theme and would agree--Lincoln logs and bricks--never a good thing.

Does anyone know if the bolt could make it forward into the engine more from where I dropped it or should it be at the back of the block?

There are lots of ledges, nooks and cranies back there, imo this is a bolt that must be found prior to starting the engine.

I agree. I am considering turning the engine by hand to see if it binds anywhere to give me an idea as to where it is. I think I am pretty much down to the option of separating the tranny and engine and pulling the back plate to find it. If anyone has done this, I could use some guidance.

Youll need a rear main seal and seal installer, the new one has a crank saver that must be pressed on and it has to be there or it will leak oil.
Also there is silicon were the cover intersects the bed plate. You need a long knife to cut it. Failer to do so may result in the unwanted removal of a bed plate gasket.
Also when removing the cover leave 2 only screwed out a few turns to prevent over streching the bed plate gaskets prior to cutting it loose when pring it off.
There is also a flywheel spacer that has to be pried of. Kind of a pain but they dio come off with a pry bar.

This maybe a long shot but, is there anyway to go up through the oil pan or is that blocked off?

Is that what prevents the bolt from coming all the way down into the pan?
