My brother dropped one of the stc fitting bolts down there... I broke out in a cold sweat, but he was able to get it in just a couple of minutes with a telescoping magnet... If you havent ready, give that a shot!!!

I got a mirror and looked back in there best I could and couldn't see anything. I'm going to try to search some more before i have to yank the transmission. Also I have no access to a borescope so my options are limited. However my truck does have 185k on it so is there any thoughts on to what i can replace if i do have to pull the transmission. I haven't had any problems with it shifting or anything like that, just thought maybe I would do some preventive maintenance on what i have access to while I'm under it.

I would try to get the boroscope. It will save you a lot of time. I have seen these as cheap as $100 in Canada.

A word to the wise, when you have your engine opened up to the point that a hole can "eat" a bolt or any other foriegn object, stuff the holes with clean rags, or papertowels before any further dis-assembly.

I have just dropped the same bolt. In need of some help. I got a camera but I am unable to see the bolt at all. any ideas?
Where all can this bolt be inside of the motor. I believe it went between the gear and the block but I am not sure.

No doubt. I get everything i need to put this truck back together and drop the stc fitting bolt. I have the camera but I cant see it anywhere. I tapped the bottom of the oil pan to see if it would rattle in there but nothing.

There's another post going right now a feller dropped his torx bit down an injector hole--so he's going through the same thing. I sure hope it's in the pan and not stuck--not sure myself what all can stop the bolt on 4he back end--just stay patient as you have been so far.

I am trying. The more I look at it, the more i can say that I am pretty sure it went down between the gear and the back of the block. I cant get my camera to go all the way into the oil pan to see if it might be in there. Is there a magnet in the oil pan to catch debris on these 07's?

I am working on getting you some pictures. The best I remember is that in won't go down to the oil pan. The concern that I would have is if it didn't go all the way down. If its wedge in between the cam gear and the block or the cam and the crank wouldn't be good.

Mine didn't go all the way down. It must have been setting between the crank balancer and the cam gear.

Do you have an extendable magnet with a small head?

Here is a shot of the crank and cam gear. It might give you a better idea where to drop you magnet.
