He opened himself for the bad credit question by bringing it up.
He is acknowledging he is a high risk, so i am curious as to why.
His credit status is a hugh part of his problem, as he is acknowledging.

You guys are like family, if i can tell a complete stranger at a stealership, i should be able to share a bit with ya'll...

I've been part of the FTE family for over 12 years and I believe that something like this was done once before with success.
I'm going to call today and arrange to go look at it on Monday-about 1 1/2 hours away.

Guys, I bought my LATE '99 F350 cc dually 3 years ago with no real knoledge of Diesels-just looked at the usual stuff for leaks, oil quality, driveability, trans shifting, stuff like that-all things considered I got lucky-my truck now only has 94k miles on it!!

What type of things should I really look at in the event I go to look at the truck in Orlando-(the earlybird) I've hears something about checking for blow-by by putting a golf ball on the open oil filler?? what is supoest to happen here, what other checks can/should I make during the check-out? should I remove the intake tubing and look inside the turbo? what am I looking for? any help would be appreciated!! anyone else close-by wanna go along?

The cap test is to check for blowby...just turn the oil cap upside down...it should either sit there or vibrate off, but NOT blow off...the biggest oil leak i can think of to check for is in the valley, look for pooled oil in there...also, run a finger around the HPOP a fuel bowl lines to check if they are leaking...

Even if all of those things are screwed up, they can be fixed for @ $50, except the blowby...also, jack up the front tires, one at a time, and wiggle the tires to check the ball joints...as i said, even if it needs the HPOP o-rings, fuel line o-rings, and ball joints, they are not that expensive to fix, but it gives a very good negotiating leverage to you...

EX: if the HPOP is leaking, Ford wants @$1200 to fix it, i can fix it for @$25 and 4-5 hours of my time, the seller doesn't know that...

if the ball joints are bad, they can be replaced for @$250 and a day in the driveway, Ford wants @$900 to replace 'em...

the blowby issue i'm not really sure why that's important, but there's a concensus that it ain't a good thing...

Blowby is important because it is a symptom of bigger problems with the engine. If an engine has significant blowby, it will probably require an overhaul to correct.

Another thing you would want to look at is the intake side of the turbo, Check for dust in the tube and look at the wheel for wear on the edges. A small amount of oil in the tube is normal. If it has a large amount of oil or sludge in the bottom, you have problems with the engine. If the shaft of the wheel moves from side to side, the turbo is going. and would require time and money to repair or replace. Look at the air filter housing to make sure that it is completely intact.

And for the record, I have $500 that David could use.

I'm going to start a new thread now strictly for looking for members that would like to help David to get back into anouther 7.3 SD PSD truck.
So, so far with MY $500., YOUR $500., and David's own $800, we're already at $1800. which is a pretty good start!! Thanks!! Rick
