SO about an hour ago while headed home my power steering started whining slash (grinding) when turning left. Does this mean the pump is bad? My old mustangs used to do this (87-93 notchback 5.0) but they were old lol. I want this fixed asap.
I have the same problem with my 2002 5.4, i found the pressure line going to the pump leaking, so ichanged it out thinking that would stop it, But the noise is still there with the leak stopped. I think it might be the Gear box going bad? thats my next step in the trouble shooting tree. let me know what you find out. the noise only gets worst
nvm.....forgot to mention i put power steering fluid in it yesterday after disconnecting the hoses on the power steering fluid reservoir. It still made the sound last night. But today i have not heard a peep out of it. Hopefully its fixed.
