power steering whine

my new to me 87 f150 4x4 4.9 auto. my power steering whines. belt tight full of fluid. even when not lock to lock just not as bad. steering is not hard just noisy is all.

Dirty, fatigued, or non compatable fluids can cause foaming, and foam is actually air, this air is cavitation, and cavitation casues noise.
Change fluid, and make sure the fluids are compatable, and you should make the noise go away.

I dont think i've ever heard an older model that didn't whine. Thats a Ford trademark i believe.....paul
