My truck has 334,000 on it and has that low of pressure. I checked my dads Excursion which has 371,000 and he has 50 psi at idle and 75 while driving.

Hopefully a new LPOP will cure the mystery problems I've had all these years.

Pretty interesting. I've had the same problem for quite a while now, and the general consensus had been that the problem is a cracked pickup tube in the pan. With pulling the engine to pull the pan being the only fix. What made you choose this route??

I chose the LPOP because I noticed the problem was worse the older the oil was. Also when the oil was warm, it went away. If you suspect a cracked pick up tube, try overfilling the oil and starting the engine. If that cures your problem, you have your answer. Obviously, don't drive your truck or run the engine for an extended period with the oil over full.

Instead of overfilling, you can also park the truck nose down on a decent hill so that the oil is up at the front and covering the front of the pickup tube. Then try it the other way with the truck nose up and see if there is a difference in how they start.

well reason i ask is i talked to a powerstroke specialty shop here locally in georgia and he said it takes a little longer to do but it can be done with the fan in place saving the extra steps. i was just wondering if anyone on here has attempted it with the fan in place.

When my problem first started, I tried the overfill and it seemed to help, but that was pre oil change. That was the only explanation for the problem at the time. Guess I'll have to do a little more trial and error. Sounds like the LPOP would be a slightly easier fix than pulling the motor

Ah, ok, but that's not what you asked. Had you posed your question like that the first time, I wouldn't have had those question marks swirling above my head!

Just did the swap. I pulled the fan but not the shroud. I wish I would've thought of this a few months ago. I had to replace the balancer, which is the biggest PITA of the project. Start to finish was a little under 2 hours and 4 beers. I can't wait til morning to see it it helps.
