I recently installed a DP tuner from Jody. Overall I really like the tunes. I did notice however that my EGT's went up VERY fast on any tune other than stock. On the 60hp econo mode which I plan to leave it on most of the time, if I get into it for more than a few seconds, EGTs go up in a hurry. I saw 1250-1300 with no signs of slowing down so I got out of it. Is this normal? This was just on a quick jaunt up from a stop light, no more than 5 seconds at full boost. I am now worried about using the 60hp towing tune with a load on the truck pulling a grade. I was hoping for a little boost in power for towing, but not sure if its going to be worth it if I have to constantly get out of it for the EGTs to go down. Anyway what do other DP owners experience for EGTs on these tunes? Thanks.
What mods have you done? Bigger exhaust? Intake? etc.. I was worried about that seeing i still have stock exhaust . Why I have not made the plunge yet for a DP.. On top of that i thought a WW mod was also going to have to happen due to surging pulling the camper...
I've got 4" turbo-back straight pipe and the cheap NAPA filter intake kit. Also have boost, EGT and trans temp gauges on the pillar. Figured the next step would be a tune and aux trans cooler. It just seem like it will be much fun running the truck with the tune if I constantly have to worry about the EGT's.
Have you gone thru your IC boots and intake assy for leaks? As well as up-pipes for exhaust leaks? Just something to check and make sure are tight and leak proof.
I tend to stay on the conservative side. When towing 12k for example, I will be in 40T. Going thru the mountains in Tenn on cruise & 12k in tow, no EGT issues at all & it pulls like a freight train. If I have a little smaller load with 60T, again no issues. Keeping the RPM's up = more air moving thru & that helps keep the temps down. I have only had to back out of it 1 time when I hit 1250 on a long grade where I had lost some of my speed & the RPM's were lower.

Good catch Adam and Ray, I missed that one by a mile..........
I run 60E around town all the time. EGT never get that high. Either do they with 80E. I don't race around all the time but 450 to 600 is normal. I tow a 30 toy Hauler loaded up big hills here in calif on 40T with stock intake and exhaust w/cat and it dose fine. Every once and a while I back down to 55 mph to keep it under 1100 egt. It will pull at 65mph up these hills all day long but egt dose limit what you want to do in that form. Also make sure your air cleaner is clean before towing in stock form w/tuners. I love my dp tuner and wouldn't change it for anything, God Bless Chet
