Hello. Need a little advice on tuners and tunes. I recently purchased a 2000 F350 crew cab 4x4 PSD with 150,000 miles. The tranny was rebuilt about 5000 ago. The only mods I am aware of are exaust brake, K&N cold air intake kit, and rear air bags. The first thing I would like to find out is if it has been chipped. The dealer I bought it from didn't know. How I can I go about finding out? I am thinking of getting the DP X3 Power Flash. Am I correct that I will be able to read my boost and EGT with it? It will be used for hunting, daily driving, and towing, (large travel trailer). Where I live is at 4,500 feet, and you can't go anywhere from here without towing over about 5,000, so I was thinking of the following setup:
40HP high altitude towing
60HP towing
80HP Econo
Should I also consider a stock tune?
Thanks for the help guys!

first i would get rid of the K&N as you read here the K&N isnt such a hot filter for our PSD. i would consider going with a 6637 air filter its from napa or others like the AFE filters..do a search for the 6637 and youll see its a favorite among this site and very affordable.but yes DP-Tuner us definatley the way to go
Yeah what he he said. You'll love the DP Tuner. You might want to think about a BTS Valve body and shift kit to protect that new tranny. Jody will be able to program for that valve body.
You might be able to retro a decent filter onto the K&N box. I would try that before I ripped it out. If you do insist on taking it out, send it to me so I can try it!
As for a chip. I really don't know of a way w/o pulling the PCM. Even that will not tell you if there is some reflash or other Superchit type of box that is logged in.
As for tunes. Just call Jody/Diane and tell them what you told us. They will ask you all those sorts of questions.
Personally, I would go with the John Woods Valve Body.
Hey! I just found an old proof of insurance card from the original owner. I found his phone number on yahoo people search and will give him a call and see if he will give me any history on the truck, ie, any mods that he may have done. Thanks again for all your help.
