I'm pretty sure some of my plugs are burnt out, it takes depressing it for 3 cycles of 8-10 seconds to get the truck to fire up, otherwise it puts out a depressing rev, like the batteries are almost dead.
I picked up a starter, mine sounds like it's on it's way out, and with all the dead batteries, and false starts over the last couple months, it's probably nearly dead. So next week it'll be glow plugs, then after that cables.
F250, i had no idea there was a harness plug but i remember seeing one off the old truck, and i think it was 4 connections so i will check it out, honestly i have no idea where it is. completely awesome reply though, thanks for the help, ill get to work on her in the morning or maybe ill wait for my month off coming in a week and a wake up! woohoo!
I reckon this is as good as any place here to ask this....(and I don't mean to sound ignorant on the subject!).
OK, concerning the glow plug relay on my 87 F250 (which by the way has over 500K miles on it). I just got a little lost to which wire is my ignition wire! I have 2 yellows, 2 reds, 2 molded yellows (big) which comes from the starter relay on the + side, a ground (which was under the bent piece of metal thing) and the the 2 big wires that go to the left and right GP banks. I checked all the fuses but maybe it's a fuse-able link?
If anyone has a drawing or picture with wiring between battery, starter relay and controller it would be helpful. Was working half way decent before I attempted the "manual switch thing"! Thanks in advance!
