Cylinder layout: Facing the engine from the drivers seat (looking through the windshield):
Right: 1 3 5 7 (Passenger Side)
Left: 2 4 6 8 (Driver Side)
7 & 8 at the rear of the engine well (fire wall).

Great post, did a search and found the answer to my question...as I am in the process of replacing #2 on a 2003 as well.

The STEALERSHIP replaced it two years ago and within 6 mos. it was acting up again, I brought it in 2 weeks prior to the 1year warranty and they said it was a 1 year 12,000mi. and I had 12,462mi. on the truck - they would not budge at all, stuck me with it.

Thank you Ford...

ford motor company sets the rules. the dealer porvides inforcement of said rule as required by the dealer franchise agreement. Ford will not pay the dealer for work done out of a warranty period. So the dealer is rightly so not going to do free work.

I neglected to add I informed the service writer at about the six month mark, they ran quick codes and found a #2 contribution code. They said bring it in when I can go without for 2 days or so...this dealership is famous for taking twice that amount of time.

So, when I finally decided to give the truck up for a few days - the service writer had quit and went to another dealership and they denied any knowledge of said issue.

So, either way you look at it - they stuck it to me.

I'm just about finished up and can't wait to go on a "full power" run. It's been almost two years of putting up with a crappy running truck.
