It's a small section over top the tranny hump, that has a "Peg", that looks REALLY similar to the door latch catch in the door jamb, that's mounted to a small section of flat stock essentially...
Those style cupholders literally clip onto that...Simple as that..

Exactly, though it has two pegs, IIRC. And they are quite easy to overlook.
Ok, nothing like that in my truck. It sounds like it stays stationary as opposed to moving with the seat. And this was an option on manual trans trucks?
My 89 F250 didn't have the pegs that you speak of. And believe me, I looked everywhere when I had the bench out of my truck. And then I put in 2 bucket seats so I have a console in between
so you have to pull off the cup holder to slide up the seat? Did someone install a seat from an automatic in your truck? Was there a cut away in the middle of the seat on the standards that year? (to accommodate the movement of the shifter)?
I have one from Walmart that was $6 on the center hump, but the only reason it works is because I have my snow plow contols on a metal tree in the center to make it level and bolt to it. It's a pretty cool design, wish I could take credit for it but the previous owner built it. I just happened to find a new one to replace the one in it that pretty rough. I'll try to post a pic of it when I get home or the next day. Maybe you could make something like it without the plow controls.

Thanks but I can't use a console or cup holder that goes on the bench. It is a 50/50 split bench and I couldn't lean it forward to get my son in the back if I had anything there.
Mine is on the floor. It doesn't effect me flipping my seat forward at all, or my ash tray. I can actually put my son't car seat in the middle if I need to even with the controls and cup holders. I could even have a child or small adult sit in the middle.
Hey guys I was looking for some help here a while back so thought I would provide my update. Helping my daughter find parts for her first car. Actually a 1996 F150 4x4 extended cab. No cup holders so I watched ebay until I found a factory model for the right price and the right color (blue). (19.99 + shipping) It did not come with the mounting screws/studs, seller stated they were to rusted to the seat frame.
Called the dealer since I found references from 2010 that the dealer still had some of these accessories. My dealer did not have the screws but they could get them from their dealer network for $12.56 ea plus shipping if I wanted to come in and pre-pay for them. I did ask for the part number: N807732S58, SCREW & WASH M6X1.0

Probably still paid a bit to much but we have been working on this project and are trying to keep it as original as possible. Hope this helps.
So you were able to buy the pegs and mount them to your seat? just drill through the fabric and screw them on?
Someone said that the seat cupholders may not be available on MT trucks, my dad's 95 F350 w/ ZF5 has the cupholder and it does not interfere with the shifter.
I should have the pegs (screws) in about 5 days. My understanding is that their are small holes in the seat frame and that the pegs self tap the holes. It was advised to find the holes from under the seat to poke a hole in the fabric to get the pegs started. I'll post an update after I complete the job next week.
I'm a noob to the forum, so apologies if this in the wrong place, etc.
I recently bought this F350 and am fixing it up. I had to clean up some electrical, have the fuel system reworked, adjust the drivers side door, etc. But it runs great and doesn't leak any fluids. 351 w 132k miles on it.
Anyway, I have noticed the lack of cup holders and am looking to resolve this. I have seen reference to the kind that hangs on the front of the bench on some bolts, but I don't recall seeing those bolts, so I have to go check that. I suspect that will be the easiest way to skin the cat.
However, the ashtray is broken and won't stay pushed in. I have seen the cup holders that push into the dash, but I think they are for newer models. Does anyone know if there's one of those that will fit the 95 ashtray hole as a replacement? I don't need the ashtray, so I could do away with it. I've surfed the web for a bunch of different add-on cup holders, but nothing really jumps off the page that won't look/act cheesy.
Anyway, Thanks for any ideas, suggestions in advance...
