Great feedback. Isn't it a shame how spotaneaity is always so expensive? Lol. Wow, two cans of lube? Garage floor must have been slick as an ice rink...
LOL, Well not two full cans. I have a lot left, just couldn't do all four doors in one can.
Well, did the door mod this morning n my '02 F250 C/C. Ordered a 50' roll of 3/8" tubing, 1/8' wall thickness, 1/8" inside diameter from divegearexpress.com on Friday. The cost was $39.95 plus approx. $5.00 for shipping and recieved it on Monday. I had also purchased a 25' fish tape for approx. $12.00 at Lowes and a can of silicone lubricant. It was extremely simple thanks to EpicCowlick's video. Prespraying the backside holes on the weatherstripping meant less silicone lubricant as you pull the tubing through. The results were fantastic on the front driver's side door. It has a firm shut to it with no bounce. It was rattling pretty good and definitely had slack in the weatherstripping. I also did the front passenger's side door as a "preventative" as it was not rattling. The 1/8" wall thickness may be a little too stiff for this door. It is difficult to open and shut however I will give it a few days to "settle down" after being compressed and "exercised" a few times. If it doesn't, the mod is so easy, I will simply uninstall it. As EpicCowlick had mentioned earlier unless you have a lot of slack in the door, I would recommend the latex 3/8" tubing with 1/16" wall thickness, 1/4" inside diameter for most applications. For me this really worked out to be an easy mod to quiet my chattering door. This new quietness really lets me enjoy my 7.3L Powerstroke...and listen for any other rattles! Thanks again FTE.

Great report. You're the first person I've actually hear of that used the thicker wall surgical tubing. Nice to know how it works and is useful in your situation. I agree to give the passenger door a little time to see if it eases up a bit.
Hey guys i just finished this mod. I used caulk saver foam pipe(3/8) after many failed attempts i was too stubborn to settle with the surgical tube but finally got it to work. The problem was the foam breaking a foot or so into the weatherstripping becuase of the friction, even with a full can of silicone. I went and bought 3/8 id plastic pipe and was thinking i could feed the foam into the pipe, feed the tube into the weatherstripping then pull the pipe out thinking the foam should catch the weatherstipping. Same problem, the foam kept breaking. Finally i wrapped the full length of foam with electrical tape. So when you pull, it pulls more on the tape. The silicone will actually lube the tape as well. Still had trouble getting the full length into the weatherstripping. Doors need to be slammed shut now. IMO its not worth the hassle unless you have a lot of play in your doors. Surgical tube will work just as good

Wow, that's a lot of work. Just curious though, why the desire to use the foam extrusion instead of the surgical tubing? I wonder if the foam is more rigid and requires a lot of force close...
I just used the clear tubing at Lowes. $4.50 a roll.
David - being from Texas you'll probably be alright with the vinyl tubing. It is very rigid though and when cold will be very, very stiff. In a freezing environment they can crack or damage the rubber seal. Or so I've heard...
Just finished the other side of the truck and have officially turned my truck into a Fordcedes (at least that is what you would think if you just heard the doors close).
Epic - check out my signature. You should trademark that and we can all pay you 10 cents every time it is posted

Fordcedes... that's EPIC. Awesome. I can't take credit for the invention though, I learned about it years ago right here on FTE. I'm just the guy who did the visuals...
Ok then, you have to live with the contributor rate (3 cents)! Thanks again for keeping us informed on the mod and making the video. Really has improved the doors!
I completed this today with the help of the video. thank you. I substituted a small bucket with dawn dishwashing soap and put some in a spray bottle also to spray the surgical tubing as it went in. I let the tubing get pulled through the bucket as it entered the door seal and it slid right through easily. You can also spray a liberal amount into the end of the door seal and let gravity run it into the full length of the seal.
I did mine today. I bought the 3/8" latex tubing(1/4" ID) from Mcmaster-Carr. We used Armor-All instead of silicone. The result is awesome! Thanks Epic!
Just to let the ones know who have the supercab models (extended cab). I tried this mod and will re-try when I feel like it. There is a 6 inch or so piece of foam inside the weather strip on both sides at the bottom of the back doors. I found it when I couldn't push my tube through. If you mess with it enough you can get it out by working towards one of the holes in the weather striping but I tore mine a little. This little foam piece has to be removed in order to get the tubing all the way through. I have no idea what purpose it serves.
