Tow mirrors

I am looking for the power tow mirrors for my '02. I just want the ones that have the same plug (no heat, no turn signal). I have found a new set on eBay for $140. They are "Kool-Vue" brand. Now, does anyone have first hand experience with this brand? I just want a quality product and I can't find the used OEMs in my area. Thanks.

Also, what plug does the '02 have? A round or rectangle?

I have an 01 that came with the sport mirrors. For me, I like OEM, but they do cost more. I paid $300.00 for the tow mirror kit. It included both mirors, and the adaptor wires. They are telescoping mirrors with no heat, or blinkers. Here is where I bought mine, and keep in mind, I live in Florida. This is a real Ford dealer and he was way cheaper then my local dealer.

Szott Ford 248-634-4411 ask for Dave in parts. He is in Michagan. I swapped them out in about an hour. The directions even came with the kit. Good luck.

Adaptor wires? The tow mirrors don't just plug in?

The adaptor wire plugs into the tow mirror wiring on one end, and then the other end plugs into the wires for the power. So to answer your question, the answer is no. If you have the sport mirrors on your truck, the tow mirrors will need the adaptor. At least it was that way for my truck, and mine is an 01. Hope this helps. You can always call your local dealer and ask the parts guy questions about your year. Good luck.

You might check car-part.com and see if you can find a used set of mirrors in your area.

Hope this helps,

Mike

I found some good info for you. My truck is an 01, so an 02 might be different, I don't know. The sport mirror has a round connector, and the tow mirror is more on a rectangle connector. As you can see in this pic, the two connectors will not go together. The adaptor, allows you to connect these two connectors.

Also the mirrors on Ebay are direct fit OEM replacement, so they may not have the adaptor wires.

Here is a link to the install instructions. Hope this helps. It is a bit different then what you would be doing. With the adaptor wiring, there is no cutting, splicing, or soldering. The adaptor makes everything plug and play.

The eBay auction says that the tow mirrors have the round connector. What are the extra wires for?

I don't know what the extra wires are for. All I know is, I used the adaptor wiring harness and everything works just fine. I bought the OEM kit, so the after market might be a true plug and play. Maybe you can contact the seller through the auction, and ask a few questions. Hope that helps.

Several folks on here have installed the Kool Vue mirrors and I haven't read any complaints about them.

Here's a few threads with feedback on the Kool Vues

I would love to switch to the '08+ mirrors with power fold but wowee those are expensive. I'm on vacation now in Myrtle Beach and with all these tight parking lots I find myself courtesy-folding my mirrors several times a day. Power fold would rule.
