Hey everyone,
Well I finally got my tow mirrors and put them on my truck. They are so much better than the paddle mirrors. I got the mirrors from Kool-Vue and they came with a rectangular plug w/ a round plug adapter for the 99-02 non-heated truck mirrors. The install was pretty straight forward after I figured out how to remove the door panel.(Thanks to the Super-Duty tech folder) I will have pictures tomorrow of how to do it and how they look on my truck.
I thought all of th heated mirriors had the turn signals too. Did you buy OEM or aftermarket?
Someday I will get the money together for the 08 mirriors, my next mod will be the Kenwood DNX5120 (thanks to Petes7.3) and then the Bilstien Leveling Kit.

They are aftermarket. Car Mirror
They are about half the price of the OEM ones.
I'll be looking forward to pics too. I have those paddle mirrors on the '01 I just bought to replace my totaled '03. I can tell already these things will be useless for towing.
After. Take the two rubber circles to get to the first two bolts. Then take the black cover off (just snaps off) and peel back the gray strip to get to the other two bolts.
The fun part is getting to the plug. It is waaay down in the door. Take the whole door panel off and unscrew the speaker and the plug is right behind it.
You will love towing with those mirrors. Didi you install a switch to turn on and off your heat? I did this on my 06 (came with the heated, lighted mirrors factory). Other wise they are always heated. Good write up rep points to you

For now I just have the mirrors plugged in to the adapter, that plugs into the truck. It doesn't feel that warm when I touch it, but I don't have any experience with heated mirrors. Would it be okay for the heat to come on in the summer to, or should I install a switch?
On my 04 that I had I never had the heat on a switch. If the heat is working right you should feel it get warm to the touch. Maybe if you know someone with one of those infared thermometers they can check the temp for you. Just so you know the lower blind spot mirror does not heat up.

I didn't think the lower part was heated. We will probably have some sort of frost here this week and I'll know for sure if they are working.
I can't wait to pull a hay wagon or something and actually be able to see behind me.
Thanks for the reps.

Only the upper part is heated on the older mirrors. It think both may be heated on the 08+. I've never really noticed mine being warm to the touch, just warm enough to melt ice, or leave a lot of waterspots the rest of the year
