Mirrors, grilles, and headlights for '02 SD

I have a 2002 F-250 Super Duty Crew Cab 4WD XLT. It has the smaller mirrors, not the nice big tow mirrors. If I buy the big tow mirrors, how hard are they to change out? Will the power mirror plug from my small mirrors just plug right into the bigger mirrors, etc? Also what years of mirrors will fit cleanly right on to my '02. If newer models mirrors will fit might be a nice more modern look. Also will the grille and or headlights from any newer generation super dutys fir on to the '02? could be a cheap way to give old silver a little modern face lift. Thanks guys.

Any of the mirrors from the newer super duty's will fit your truck. I think the wiring is pretty simple on them. And you might already have all the wires needed on your truck, just not in use. But I'm not 100% sure on that though, so hopefully somebody that has more knowledge will chime in here soon. I know they will fit, but I'm just not sure on the wiring, either way its a pretty simple install for the most part.

If you want the 08+ ones a lot of people use these. I have the basic tow mirrors without the lights on my 02 now, and wanted to upgrade eventually. I originally wanted the 04-07 ones with the clearance lights, but after seeing a few members on here put the 08+ ones on our model year trucks, I think they look pretty good.

The only difference is the mirror caps between these two.

For the grille only the 05-07 ones will fit, any newer will not, other than that you will have to go with something aftermarket. The 05-07 one will have to be cut to fit, you can either buy it already cut or cut it your self. Just the bottom needs to be trimmed.

I have one on mine, it was on the truck when I bought it, I think it looks pretty good.

Compared to my Dads 06.

The 05-07 headlights will fit with some trimming and cutting. I've seen it done before. I think you could also change the header panel, but I'm not for sure on that. Or you could go with aftermarket headlights. I'm going to get some aftermarket projector halo headlights for mine eventually, but I'm not sure if you are into that look or not.

Hope this helps.

I am not sure about the mirror stuff but I know you can put any super duty mirror on it but the lighted and heated ones if you don't have them now will have to be wired up. For the grille you can do what John (reddevil460) said or you can change the bumper, grille, headlights, and support panel. Personally I think this looks better as it looks more stock and you don't have to worry about cutting stuff plus to me it looks funny cut (no offense to Johns truck) If you wanted 08-now you would have to update the entire clip (fenders, hood, grille, bumper, radiator support and probably more there is a thread on here about it)
Here is our 02 F250 crew with a 05 XL grille and bumper but keeping the 02 headlights and license plate bracket(I sorta like this look)
you can also compare mine to Red devils truck to see which one you prefer (you can use any 05-07 grille just ours is the XL grille)

Like I said above there are a couple different ways. They also sell 05-07 lights that are applicable for the 99-04s and fit without modding I believe.

Thanks a ton guys. I think I will go with the newest generation mirrors, and then just switch out the grill for a little face lift possibly. My super duty is no show queen but she only has 63,000 miles on her so she will be around for a lot more years. Appreciate the help.

oem power mirrors are the best. I just put 2012 mirrors on my 03 and love them. a lot or wiring, but I use the power fold at least once a day as i drive a lot through the city. defrost, power extend, signals, running lights, and the view is unmatched.

those are all things I`m looking to change out on my 99 if I end up keeping it.....even been trying to find a way to make an 08 style grille work with out changing entire front end (I know, I know) but have a few ideas similar to the trimmed 05-07 grilles you can buy, wouldn't be an exact stock appearance but at this point stock is not a factor

Check out 1aauto for the mirrors. Several members in the excursion section have purchased them as well as in here. 2002+ come with the power and lights wiring. Not sure about the power telescoping though.

I think 04 and up had the wiring. I have had two 03's and 1 only had power mirror the other had lights, heat, signal, and power mirror.
