Hey everyone I am seriously looking for tow mirrors for my truck now that I have some money and I have a few questions. I want to get the Oem mirrors and I saw a lot of tow mirrors on eBay but I am wondering if they are aftermarket or Oem? Are the aftermarket ones as good as the Oem ones or should I be looking somewhere other than eBay? BTW my truck is a 2000 with power mirrors.
Thanks guys.
I am in the same boat. I bought a 2000 F250 over the week that has electric paddle mirrors and I am looking to put tow mirrors on it. I just got off the phone with a Ford dealer and that quoted me a price of $351.64 for OEM telescoping tow mirrors. Good luck.
I got OEM mirrors from E-bay a couple of years ago. You have to be sure and read the listing carefully to make sure they are OEM and not aftermarket. A lot of times, it will read something like "OEM Take-offs" or something similar, where they were taken off the truck and replaced with something different. I've heard a few people had issues with the aftermarket (noise and quality issues), but can't remember anything specific. Like all things with E-bay, be very careful. There are great deals to be had, but you must read the listing carefully and ask questions if you're not sure.
Craig's List is another place to look. I've seen some on there, but it's been a while.
I have a pair of aftermarkets from carmirror.com. They are power and heated and come with the adapter plugs for the different years and they work great. My truck didn't have the option of heated mirrors and they are easy to wire up to work. I got them both shipped for about $210.
Schefenacker Mirrors was the OEM supplier for Ford Super Duty mirrors. They changed their name and they are now Visiocorp. These are the manufacturer names to look for if you are buying OEM - but keep in mind all you will see is the Ford oval stamped with the part number on the true OEM mirrors, not these names.

So your saying that the only difference in the oem and aftermarket is the name on them?

Schefenacker (Visiocorp.) made the Ford OEM mirrors - they don't sell them to the public. So if you find a set of OEM Ford mirrors - they say Ford on them, but are made by this company. Kool Vue, etc. are all aftermarket copies of the OEM mirrors made by Schefenacker. I was just answering the question about who made the OEM mirrors for Ford. They are the best quality mirrors for our trucks but several on this forum have had good luck with some of the aftermarket manufacturers.
I just hooked mine up to a toggle switch that has a led light so you don't forget to turn them off. It is easy to wire up, you can patch the ground for the heat into the ground for the power mirrors and the power can also be patched off the power mirrors. All you will have to do is run a wire off the power side to a toggle for the heat power switch. It is very easy it took me about a hour and half to do it all.

Well I went on and ordered the heated ones with the adapter so now all I can do is wait. I think they will make my truck look a lot better.
Your truck will look 100% better with the big mirrors. I don't think these trucks should even come with the small mirrors, but that is just my opinion. Let me know if you need help with the wiring.

Ditto to that....a friend of mine had those small mirrors on his 99. That was until I got my 02 with the tow mirrors. His now has the tow mirrors as well. Why Ford even uses those tiny mirrors for a nice big truck I'll never know.
Kool Vue mirrors are nice to work with if you have to go aftermarket. I used them a few times and they are darn close to OEM standards.
