I would imagine that every F250 has the wiring in place (provided it has power locks), but may lack the module. Mine is an XLT trim and must've already had the module from the factory and someone likely lost the FOBs over the years. So all I did was buy a new FOB off of ebay and then program it.
You are asking about a 1996 which is after they went to powerstroke (as far as diesels are concerned, so there may be a difference from year to year.
My 94 XLT has power locks but no key FOB's. I contacted Ford for a build sheet and when I got it is said it did not come with remote locks. But when I removed the panel under the steering wheel, there was the module. I ordered two FOB's, programmed them and they worked!
I assume in my model year, the power lock module is the same as the remote lock module so it may be in all models with power locks.
Just noticed I allready posted this in an earlier post! Must be getting old!

Reason: Add info
Also, while looking under the dash, I did not see any empty connectors to plug a factory module in to. Should that be obvious, or is it buried behind something else?
Despite what this thread says NOT every truck has the wiring. I know for a fact as I've looked at many and oddly only 1 had the wiring and the module. The module and connector are right behind the dash cubby above the gas pedal. If you lay on the floor add look up you will see it, IF it has it.
Hi, I have the exact same truck. I have a question. We just bought our truck and it started having trouble with jerking when it went into second and 4th gear. It is an automatic. Our mechanic said it was from the remote keyless module that was blowing the fuse out. It drives fine now. My question is, I found a remote keyless module that fits a mustang with the same age. Ours is a 1995. It has the same 15k602 -AC number on it. Will that work in the F250? This was for bduemig, but anyone who has any knowledge is welcome to answer. The truck is a 95 Ford F250 extended cab.
Thanks for any advice.
