ive decided that when i get back from basic training im going to start matte black'ing every part of the exterior of my vehicle. im not going to ghetto it out either, its going to look professional.
well i'm going to change the spark plugs today. using autolite double plat's. i'm starting to get the same noise it made before blowing plug #4. so i'm going to change all the others...since its at 70k miles it could use it anyhow...i'll post pics and stuff later.
also replacing all the bulbs in the gauge cluster since almost all of them are blown out!
so yesterday i replaced the plugs and changed out all the gauge cluster lights.
first off. CHECK YOUR SPARK PLUGS!. before i bought the truck(a week before) it blew the #4 spark plug. it was fixed by a shop here in town to the tune of $450. well ever since then i've been a bit worried about it. well in the last week it started making the same sound it made before the last one blew..almost sounded like a exhaust leak or a knock. turns out the 3rd plug back on the drivers side HAD 2 THREADS LEFT AND WAS FINGER TIGHT! i swear it was ready to blow in the next 50 miles. i'm very glad i couhgt it!
other then that the plugs looked great, burning well and ofcourse it only has 70k miles on it so they should be pretty good. some of them are kinda hard to get too, my V10 excursion is much easier to change plugs/coils on.
it sure feels like it has alittle more power and my rough idle is toatly gone! i'm happy
Will you do me a favor and post pics when you finish changing the cluster lights? I'm assuming LEDs? I want to do this swap but haven't found the right type of LED bulbs to use.
no i replaced them with regular incondecent(sp) bulbs. i only bought 194 bulbs not knowing i needed a different smaller bulb. luckly i have a few parts explorer's which had the bulbs i needed in there gauges.
i'll get some finished pics later...but its just a fully lit stock cluster lol
Regarding the LED in the instrument cluster. You might want to check this website. I ordered white overlays and LED for the cluster for my 92 T-Bird SC. The bulbs were about $6/each and I needed 5 of them. They sent 8 so I have 3 left. I really do like the "whiter" light of the LED. They were helpful and have a selection of bulbs/colors.
"Brake Check" lol i have issues with tailgators....thought it might make them think twice...if they get it
I Love the plate idea ..I lived in beautiful AK for a few years recently and my sister still does and it's not just Anchorage drivers ..try the whole Mat-Su Valley included ,all the way to Fairbanks ..and don't forget the moose, they are always a factor ..Love your pics ..it is definitely Expedition Country up there ..I missed mine when I was there .I didn't have it with me ,just a Ford Focus ,you can imagine the fear I had when I was introduced to Alaskan Drivers in that lil car ..Made me miss my Expedition all the more ..hope people Read and Heed ..your Plate! Can't wait till summer coming up for vacation ..I'll always miss Alaska and the people there .It's a great place !
b-uno, I can't find your town "Meth-Su" on a map. I there actually such a place or is it a humorous name for an illegal product that a few Alaskans consume?
