I have a 2001 Expedition 4x4 5.4 that has started to slip intermitantly on initial take off. This is my wifes truck so I cant describe it exactly. She said that when she takes off, the motor revs slightly and then fully engauges. She also said that it only happens maybe a couple time a month. Any ideas?? I would like to get out ahead of the issue if possible to try to keep something major from happening.
I will say this and take the blast from everyone. The truck has 140K on it and I am not sure if I had the fluid flushed or not. I am a maintentance freak but I guess I overlooked this since I hardly ever drive it. Now I am hesitant because everyone that I seem to talk to says not to do it now for the fear that it will cause more problems.
Update, just got back from a trip to Cali from Az and got to experience the issue myself. It only happened twice on the week long trip and seems to only happen when it is hot. It feels like its not shifting into first and even had a rotational noise when I let roll. Then all of a sudden after letting the truck run for a little while, put it back in drive and everything was fine?
Side question, does anyone know of a good tranny guy in Tucson?
