PVC is dangerous

Is it possible to make a snubber out of regular hose? I've seen some folks mention going to a compressor shop to buy one. Are the fittings different or maybe the hose has a larger diameter?

Thanks!

Go to an Aeroquip or Gates hose dealer and buy the snubber hose. The snubber hose is usually a minimum of 1/2" diameter. I prefer to use at least 3/4" I.D. hose. Good fittings and clamps are required to retain a large hose.

what if any drawbacks are there for using black pipe, and is galvanized the best choice for garage home use?

IMHO- there will be water in the pipe so it is best to use galvanized. Black iron is used in many commercial applications where they have a nice chiller to remove moisture. The black iron rusts inside and you get rusty water out and also rust dust in your output air. Use non hardening liquid/paste type pipe dope on your connections. Do not use teflon tape, it does not seal as well and the teflon "stringers" can get in air tools and damage them. Do not use teflon tape on hydralic systems also, like your power steering or transmission.

so it would be wise to take off any quick disconnects from air tools and use puddy there instead too right? i'd like to do this right the first time, like all the way right not hey thats how everyone else does it and it works right. thanks for the other response i'll be piping my air with galvanized soon then.

I use the liquid/paste type dope on all of my fittings for the same reason.

Some people do use the teflon tape but that does not make it right.

If you already have the couplings sealed up it would just make more debris go into the tool if you pulled them apart now.
