Okay, I have finally desided to go with a PVC pipe and a cone intake system. I have the cone already hooked up, now I get to run the piping. Does anybody out there have experience with this, and can they give me any advice on how to do it, any particular instructions, pipe type, connecting the pipe to the 3" cone filter? Any and all help would be appreciated.
I installed PCV piping on my 1993 4.0L Ranger, it wasn't that hard, It was long ago sense I did it so...? I used I think it was a 3"x4" thick sewer rubber connecter for the intake to pcv, (if not done right it will leak air) I had to cut to fit. On the piping one 90*two 120* (some engines one 120*). I had to lower the fan shroud. Don't forget that the engine moves back and forth that might put stress on the pcv, you have to allow for this. The thick sewer rubber connecter does give and take, make sure you don't cut it to short because you want the rubber to absorb some of the engine's vibrations and moments. After The thick sewer rubber connecter has been in place for a while the heat will form it to fix so you have to retighten it and maybe take it out and look at it again.
I installed my PCV intake a year ago and it been working fine sense /w n/p, I had to check the rubber connecter once and readjust by tightening.
The PCV intake is not real pretty but no one looks at it so... if you want a good job buy a good intake system
As a thought, I would get some model spray paint to either paint the PVC or CPVC pipe to look stock or you could go wild with the wide variety of mettalic colors they have. Walmart usually has a good selection where they have the model cars.
Hmm come to think of it a guy could put duals on his carbed Ford by using a flange end to bolt to the air cleaner housing, a rubber connector, pipe, rubber connector, elbow to turn to the fender well. They also carry step ups so you could go larger. Paint all the pieces black, Ford blue or contrasting metallic.
the vehicle is a 94 ranger xlt 3.0L ext. cab with a 3" cone intake and the rest of the intake is stock. just looking for suggestions on pipe used and how to connect the cone and MAF to the pipe.
Well connecting pcv to "my MAF" wasn't that hard, I think I had to cut lines in the pcv tubbing to make wider, I used the rubber seal that was in there before. You said that you have the other side done so.
the cone intake i bought came with the adapter to bolt right up to the holes that were used by the previous air box, I just have to find a way to connect a round pvc pipe to connect to MAF sercurely.
