Here ya go bro. I put together all the coolant info posted by Gooch over the years, and as well, added more that I learned through research, regarding Heavy Duty OAT ELC's.

I went with the separate bag descision, that way if you just need the tow strap and other helping-a-brother-out tools you can just grab a smaller bag and go.

I looked that over and it seems to apply only to diesels. Is there any problem running a universal green coolant like Prestone in a V-10?

I only run the gold on my v10...

There is no problem with the green!

Gold has better protection that's all Stewart is saying.

Brushed off the three inches of snow. Really hate to drive it with all the salt they are putting on the roads I'm going to have to start driving it again Wednesday when I tear into the Transfer Case on the wife's Jeep!

Installed some strobe leds from advance ($39). I debated with the position but eventually went with inside the grill. I hooked my power to the light switch then mounted the control to the bottom of the dash. very simple install, the hardest part was deciding where to put them. I'm gonna be installing 2 more on the top side corners of the back window. All blinkers will get plug strobes when my headlights get here. These have 4 different blink patters and can be set to just stay on like fog lights. I do roadside sprinkler work and the strobes will come in handy. I have the everglades in my backyard so excuse the bugs on the radiator. I'll be adding more pics to my blacking her out thread with a little more details.. OK, good. Sounds like it does mean something on the diesels. Never heard of the cavitation issue before, but that just adds to my ignorance of all things diesel. On the other hand, I just might learn enough on here to take the plunge someday.

I installed my XM Snap, removed the Antenna, cut the air cone (intake will be here next week) replaced a running board bulb. I also found out my rear tires only have 40 PSI in them... I guess whomever had it last decided that 40 was sufficient... :\

Yeah, gassers don't have to worry about cavitation like we do.

Here's an excerpt from my info thread:

"Where diesel cylinder cavitation is concerned, the bubbles are formed by the rapid flexing of the cylinder wall liners as the high compression, high energy diesel combustion process takes place. Much like if you filled a plastic liter pop bottle up with water and rapidly flexed the sides of the bottle back and forth with your hand. Bubbles form without any heat present. The bubbles in diesel cylinder wall cavitation don't explode, they implode due to pressure. It is this implosion against the metal surface that causes the pitting to form in the outside of the cylinder wall. Eventually the prolonged pitting become a hole. Water/coolant enters the cylinder, and thus we have engine failure (usually via hydrolock). Unlike gasoline engines, all diesel engines experience some level of inherent cavitation, some worse than others. FWIW, the Ford 6.9L and 7.9L IDI's originally had serious cavitation issues because Ford did not initially require (or add) SCA to the coolant. Ford later issued a bulletin to address that, and problems decreased dramatically."

I do a drain and fill every other winter so I have no need for long life coolant in my personal vehicles. At the same time I check the condition of the hoses and the water pump for end play.
