What did you do to the X today?
FINALLY finished installing my new to me OEM '05 headlights tonight! (It's 4:20 in the morning!) Also added a sweet HID kit from JAT. Awesome upgrade, especially after dealing with an aftermarket set of '04 lenses and markers that weren't cutting the mustard. Word to the wise, you get what you pay for with aftermarket lenses, never again. Thorleys next!

got any pics of it with the 05 lights, them things are NICE
^^This was pretty helpful to me. Another thing that helped was to visualize what exactly you're trying to do, it's not just stick it in the hole and push until it releases (it's not sex 101). There are 4 small springs on the outlet side, the side closest to the front, that have to be released, which is the point of the small plastic tool you buy. Press it in to the coupling, and it's theoretically supposed to compress those springs to a point to where the coupling will be able to slide right off, over that little ridge. Sometimes, however it doesn't work that way and you have to work with it. Try sliding the hose towards the filter, then putting the plastic tool on there to compress the springs then wiggle and pull the lines off. **A Rag here, around the filter connection will likely save you some gas in the face, remember to at least unplug the inertia switch and let the truck run until it don't run no more, it helps**
The back connection is another PITA, it's "delicate" and stubborn, like a woman, so unless you have the right angle and rub it just the right way, it ain't budging. Again, pull the line towards the filter, then press the tool into the coupling opening, hoping to compress enough of it to allow it to release. Maybe yours won't be all that bad, maybe mine has just been on there for a long time, brown muddy gasoline coming out the end definitely isn't a good thing, just guessing here, haha. Also, getting mine out of the bracket sucked too, that bracket is TIGHT, like what seems to be overly tight, but I'm sure it serves its purpose, to **** us off. Taking it out and putting it in, not the easiest thing to do, WATCH THE FINGERS here lads, getting them stuck between the filter and bracket don't feel good.
You struck a nerve. Every time I get "productive", I really intend to document w/pics. It's a tough thing for me to do (remember) once I do get my butt into gear. Then, next thing I know, the project's all done.... DAMN!!!! I promise, even if I have to enlist my son to school me in loading pic's, I'll post some when the sun comes up. The X does look great now! This has been a long time in the making...... don't need to tell ya, I realize I'm preaching to the choir lih!

LOL. That's why we're not Chilton's or Haynes manual writers. It's kinda of tough to stop, clean the grease and dirt off your hands to snap a photo so you don't get the camera dirty...unless I have a dedicated digital camera to snap.
