I'm Monsta's little sister. I just wanted to add a little postscript to our family drama.
The day after my sister-in-law's accident, I was rear-ended in my Honda Accord by a Ford Expedition. My Honda's pretty much totaled. The Ford didn't have a scratch on it. Oh, the irony of it all!
So you laugh at me now, Great Monsta, but let's see who's laughing when I pull up in my new F-250 Super Duty!!
What is dimished value? Can expect some sort of compensation for the loss of value of the truck due to the accident that is above the repair cost?
**
I've never heard of payment for diminished value. That's the risk of keeping your vehicle pristine...someone might smack it and there you go.
The best I can do in my area is go to my trusty body guy who can do as well as anyone making the truck look like brand new when he's done. It costs a bit more but it's how I do things. The insurance company will give you what they think it's worth to fix it and you're on your own from there. That's my experience anyway.
Sucks because it isn't your fault, but that's part of the deal with driving I guess.
Good luck with it. If you're in Central Michigan I'll send you to the best shop in the area.
Monsta, I'm glad to hear that your family and the other guy came out of the wreck ok. I must say that the Accord looks like it was hit by a train. Too bad for your truck but hopefully it will be fixed perfectly to your likeing.
Monsta...I am glad that your family and you are fine!! Good ole American Ford Iron did its job protecting its occupants.. I wish my burb would grow up to be a real suv but and ole burb will do for now....I guess..darn it...The family and I still feel safe in it though..I bet that kid will get his next vehicle with a little more iron around him..Hopefully he learned a lesson out of this..There is no replacement for sheer size....Good luck!!

Guess the fart can became a diahrrea can after that one.
Insurance.... be as big 'a ******* with them as they try to be with you.
I had to retain an attorney once in a similiar situation.
Definition of insurance company mantra: "collect as much as you can and pay as little as you can get away with"
Insist on OEM parts....some states (like mine: OH) MAKE the insurance company use OEM parts (some huge law suit recently).
Best of luck. Threaten to retain an attorney... that'll make 'em know you're serious. Tell 'em your kids have been complaining of neck pain recently.....
I'm not an ambulance chaser... just been around the block with those a__oles few times.
