Any one having issues with their trucks pulling hard to the right and having excessive play esp towards the right? Everything is aligned and tight. now i know i am running a 6 inch lift and 37x13.5s on 20s but it seems to be more then the side-affects of a lift.
The other say i went down to my local shop...been good friends with them forever...not the dealer and they took a look to see if they could find anything and took it for a spin. they said it could very well be something with the steering box. Anyone having a problem with this or any similar problems?
We both think it is not related to the lift but i am not 100%
well to rule out radial pull or what not with the tires I would swap them around ,, but a pull can be internal to the steering box as can play ,, also if your steering wheel was not centered correctly with the steering gears center position it can cause issues also
it could also be a binding brake and a loose steering gear .. the gear is easy to adjust the slop out off
My 2010 F350 is stock and the stearing has play to the left and right. Truck has 1200 miles on the clock. I noticed it from day one that the stearing wasn't tight. My truck also has the factory 20" wheels.
z-mann is correct I had my 20 inch wheels rotated and the truck started to pull to the right. Sent it in to the dealer for an alignment, they set the toe a little bit and took it for a drive noticed it still pulling to the right. Swapped the 2 front tires and it pulled to the left,(radial pull).
The interesting comment from the tech was that my steering box seemed a little loose. I ask him what is the problem, he said that there is a lot of play in these steering boxes.!? I had him write his comments down, protect your A$$.
I had a problem with a little play in my steering. While changing my oil I always check my toe-rod ends, thought they were a little loose for the miles I have on it .... 28k. I brought it into the dealer & they agreed that it had too much play. Come to find out they had to replace the steering gear, said thats pretty common on these. I have a 08 job1 F450 4x4 .....
Just something you may want to check.
on the 08's they must not be, cause they had to drop the steering box to do it. they didn't tighten one of the hoses enough cause about 15 mile later I had PS fluid everywhere..
Mine has been bad for more then a year now had 5 alinements from dealer and local shops that are very good, steer box tighten with very little help. Truck drifts all over and if road has crown or anything but level you need to hold wheel 3/8 off center to keep it going strait. This is my 5th super duty and the only one that was this bad! Driving me nuts, it's going in today again and if it isn't fixed I'm going to order a new truck! Tired of dealer saying everything normal and not just with steering but that's the single biggest thing that bothers me
