I recently purchased a 79" F150 Stepside. It is lifted at least 4"s with 33's for tires. It has a new steering stabilizer.
When I drove it home it would track straight, however when I went into curves at highway speeds it seem the steering would dart a little when I went to steer it back to straighten wheels out and then it dart the other way when I tried to correct it from darting a little. All steering linkage seem tight with no excessive play.
I sprayed some penetrating oil on the steering shaft u joints to make sure they were not frozen.
Could it be steering gears?
Just not sure what else to check..............
All steering components should move in unison. Have a pal work the steering as you observe the input and output of the steering box, pitman arm to drag link, drag link to tie tie rods, and tie rods to the knuckles.
Also check all the bushings - especially the radius arm bushings. The steering/suspension could be loading up when ya turn and then release the load as ya straighten out the steering. That could be causing it to 'wobble'.
