2003 Explorer Jumpy Steering

Spoke to a FoMoCo Tech (No vested interest in the outcome of advice), pull the power steering belt off, take it around the block, quickly as there is no water pump spinning, and if you still have the same dead spots it the rack.....Its my rack............Of course

Check out the intermediate shaft joint on the steering. I have a 2005 Expedition. Sound like my problem. I took some WD-40, and with the engine running, carefully sprayed the joint while my son was in the vehicle turning the wheel from stop to stop. I really loaded it up. Bingo! no more hard/easy steering. Easy all the way. It will flare up from time to time, but I just doushe it up again.
