Well, as a few of you said Ford did not dissapoint and sent me the specs on my truck as I had ask them to. The first thing that jumps out at me with a vin of F15, they say it is a F100,........ So then they say the vehicle was procduced on 01/08/1977, when the door jam sticker clearly indicates it as a 03/77. Could it be 03/08/1977? Just an FYI the vin is F15BLY16342, so here is the letter for those of you who have never got a chance to look at one. I hope you can read it. Everything else seems to be correct.
Guess the next thing will be the Marti report, but that will have to wait till later this year.
How much does it cost to get one of those? I'd like to know if the cab on my truck was replaced, or the rest of the truck... (Box and fenders match, cab does not)
To the OP...is it possible the door was switched some time over the life of the truck and the original VIN wasn't replaced? Have you ever verified the door plate with the frame stamping? Beyond that, I know Ford has had issues with 77's. I currently have one and a couple others in the past that Ford says doesn't exist, even though I've sent them pics of the VIn, WP, and the VIN on the frame. They say that my trucks don't exist. I have read this on a couple other sites and have a couple buddies with early 250 4x4's that this is especially true for. The only info that I did get was that the info could have been lost, or there was an issue with some documentation being water damaged back in the 90's. Dunno how true that was, but there seems to be some sort of discrepancy if Ford says that 8 trucks that I know of, don't exist. But like you said, the next step is a Marti premium. I'm **** enough to find rigs, with as much original stuff as possible, so I have most of this info with my rigs, but it's just cool to have a Marti.

The one the OP posted is free. You just have to request it from Ford. It does take 6-8 weeks to get though.
Very interesting Harold. My F100 truck letter is very similar only lacking the am radio, ammetor and guages, exterior sound control package, automatic transmission, and power steering. The gearing and tires are different as well. I think our door tags show different color codes, but in the letter the color is worded exactly the same. My letter is worded Cloth and Vinyl Interior Trim Scheme. From the photos I believe the truck interiors are exactly the same. Mine was manufactured in VA, but only 18 days later than yours.
Thanks for Sharing,
Shane
My sheet I got from Ford was accurate as far as I can tell. I still want to get the Marti report though, its just neat to have all that stuff.
I have the original build sheet that was under the mat on the transmission tunnel. Actually they placed two in my truck, there was another one under the springs of the seat also. I left the one in the seat and took the other one out and placed it in a clear plastic cover.
I may have told you that I received 2 letters on the same mustang each showing a few different options. This was maybe 12 years ago before Kevin Marti aquirred the ford documents. I was told that they were read by hand off microfilm at that time and sometimes things get missed. I think now that Ford sends the letters to Marti and he does the spec letters before sending them back to ford and to the owner. Don't know if this is true or not. The Marti letters show alot more detail along with production numbers and such. I learned that my 69 mustang coupe w/ bench seat, automatic, and 428 CJ engine is one of 2 built.
That truck might have been sent to quality control before it left the main assembly plant, because it was missing something before it got the door jamb sticker
Yeah, the vin on the frame, matches everything else. I got the truck from a woman, who had it for two weeks, she got it from an estate sale. That was the second owner who bought it used in 1978, and in the mid 80's he parked it for good in his barn where it set until he passed away at age 91, at the end of 2007.
When I got it, it had 80,000 and change on it and were original miles. Today I had it out and just rolled over 83,000. August 20th will be two years that I had it. SHANE, my color code is "Z" Copper metellic, but the letter says medium copper.
It doesn't supprise me, I had some issues with Ford in getting the vin's straight when I called them. I am still waiting on the spec sheet on my dad's 77 explorer too. I'll let you all have a look at that when it comes in.
Where is the VIN on the frame actually located? I'd like to know if my cab is original or off another truck, as it's a different color than the rest of the truck.

and F15 is an F150 not an F100.
Well, that would make sense for the 3/8/77 date instead of the 1/8/77 date Ford gave me. The vin on the frame is on the passenger side top frame rail right about where the alternator is. You will need a wire brush, and be prepared to go down to bare metal.

Top side of the passenger side frame rail. I've seen them as far forward as the shock tower and as far back as just under the cab.
Well, I'll be pulling the front clip off anyway, so maybe I can find it. And probably the engine.. something possessed someone to paint the block orange, and I can't have that. Plus it'll give me a chance to inspect the bottom end and see if the engine is as new as they said it was.
Here's mine. Similar to Tees, the sheet says Dark Brown Exterior paint, but my paint code on the VIN tag is PX, Dark Nectarine Metallic with Tan center. Also, no metion of "Custom" only "custom decor group" which from the brochure is the brite drip rails, brite trim in front and back glass, and knit/vinyl bench. Is this just a higher level of Custom?
Another anomoly is the in cab tank that was outlawed January 1977. Door sticker shows a 5/77 build date, which makes sense if it came off the line 01June77. Still can't find the VIN on the frame....
