my door chime has been going off for no particular reason. i don't really see a need to have it, what is the easiest way for me to delete it? where is the actual buzzer located? can i just rip it out and top the wires?
the door jam button is probably contacting even when the door is closed. you can pull it and clean with electrical cleaner or what i did was disconnect the wires at the button and use the head light **** to turn on the interior dome light...
Keep in mind that electrical cleaner is specially formulated so you don't make the plastic brittle... carb, engine and other cleaners will make all your plastic pieces brittle and they will break way easier once that stuff has been used on them...
On my '95, If I don't turn the key all the way to off, it will buzz after key is out (switch worn out). I don't know what year your truck is, but I remember on my '84 (or maybe my '81), I carefully pried the buzzer off a circuit board. It was soldered on there. I'm leaving the buzzer on this truck, as my memory isn't what it was.
I had that problem when my ignition lock cylinder was worn out. It would sometimes not chime when the door was open and would randomly chime while driving.
The chime will go bad after time and can go off intermittently. It is a small black box under the drivers side of the dash just above and to the right of the gas petal. Just unplug it and the problem is solved. It could not be easier or more peaceful when it is gone. I certainly dont miss mine.
thanks guys. i've got a 94 f250 to clarify... it might be the ignition switch, because it does seem kind of worn. my dome light tends to randomly come on when i go over bumps in the road, so i'm thinking some kind of short? I will get under there and try to find it today, i just don't want to pull the wrong thing out haha!
