302 w/idle problems

LOL no problem. You caught the question I missed and visa versa. It happens. I re-read my post and I sounded like an *** but didn't mean it like that just to let you know. If he is losing spark, how about the ignition module on the drivers side firewall or fender towards the firewall? I am not sure that is the correct name for it but it's the silver box with the louvers in it. I hear these are problematic on some of these Fords because they are not mounted in the front near the radiator like the newer models are, therefor they heat up and eventually go out (that's electronics for you). 
More than once I have missed a point or two when it comes to reading through these threads!

OK, I'm losing my mind with this one. I double checked and in fact I do have spark. My truck has still been sitting for 3 days on the side of the road. I will start a new thread with what I REALLY think I know now. Thanks for the advice though!

Just worked on one last week that had similar symptoms to the erratic idle. Was giving me code 23 for TPS and 34 for EGR. It was a bad EGR solenoid causing EGR to intermittantly open at idle. PO had jacked up the initial timing to 20 degrees and cranked out the base idle stop screw to keep it running.
Try plugging your EGR vac hose to see if it makes the problem go away.
