Puzzling problem! Clutch does not engage

I have a 1994 Motorhome with a 7.5 liter engine.
I just charged the system with R134a and Leak tested ok by a professional.
However, the clutch will not engage when plugged into the wiring harness. If I wire it direct to the battery, it runs, and everything appears checks out ok. I checked the ground wire on the wiring harness and can use it with the positive from the battery and it will run. The strange thing is that I have 14.12 volts at the witring harness but it will not engage the clutch when plugged into the compressor???? I don't understand. Can anybody help? By the way, being a motorhome, we had to do this outside in about 32 degres F tempreratures. Would there be a temperature sensor that would prevent the clutch from engaging?

Try jumping it over at the low pressure cutout switch as they do go bad and will prevent it from running. I am not sure if that model also has a hi pressure cut out too. If so check it as well.

Put some gauges on the system and get the clutch engaged and read the pressures. As Snoman indicated you might have a high pressure switch and/or a low pressure switch staying open. By reading the pressures you should be able to diagnose the problem. High cutout is probably at 300-350 low probably 20-25.

The '99 F-250 owners manual states the AC will only function if the outside temp is about 10 degrees C (50 degrees F) or above. I imagine the same is true of this system.
