Is this a pretty straight forward process? Both of my axles have torn boots and I plan on replacing both axles. Can anyone direct me to a DIY link? Any help would be appreciated. Oh yeah, 1999 Expedition Eddie Bauer 4X4 with air ride 126k
I have the 35mm axle nut off and all but one of the bolts on the other side of the axle out. There is some oil starting to leak out of the axle on the side of the 6 bolts or so. Is much going to come out? Should the axle slide out once I remove the last bolt? Also, the replacement axles come with 36mm axle nuts. If the thread is the same, can I use the old 35mm axle nuts to keep from having to buy another axle socket?
Never mind. I figured it out on my own. I must be the only one that has ever attempted to change out my CV axles myself.......GO ME!
