Ok I have 97 F-350, it would shut off going down the road Stop Re-Start no problem. I went to Ford got an new CPS (F7TZ-12K073-B) installed it went about 50 miles did the same thing as the old one. Could this be a bad sensor or could I have something else going on?
How about a little more info, my man. How many miles are on the rig? Any modifications to the stock set up? Time from last filter changes? Did it 'power down' when it died or just cut out completely? Any other problems you noticed leading up to this, or did it just start occouring out of the blue?
Sorry about that I haven’t posted much, it has Bully dog 6 position chip that I run in Stock all the time Except for a few week ago I turned it up one notch and ran it for about 5 miles and turned it back off (it was in the truck when I bought it and I was worried about the exhaust temps since It is stock) and no other Modification with 139000 miles on it, and about 1k on new filters. I have noticed the water in fuel light on for a short time a couple times before, but it goes right off. I have had the truck for about 4 years and it has shut of twice before and then I got the recall. Now with in the past 4 months it shut off about 4 times. No other warnings running down the road 60-65 shut off just like turning off the key. I put the new cps in on Friday night and Saturday morning went to get feed (roughly 50 miles) and it ran great all they way up and seemed to shift better than before on the way back it cut right off once it restarted and I got going it seemed to shift like it did before I changed the sensor. Other than that I did not notice any other changes.<O</O
It's definitely not unheard of maybe the cps is bad again. Some are faulty right out of the box. If I were you I'd try another one, you need a spare anyway.
Thanks for the input, I will try the new part number and see what happens. I used the Truck last night, went about 30 miles pulling a 30 foot gooseneck with 200 bales of hay with no problems at all. I did notice once I stopped it sounded like it was surging a little at idle. It might have done before and I am just paying allot more attention to it now. fficeffice" /><O></O> <O> </O> <O> </O>
