Are the rear springs the same on an F250 and an F350? I recent;y had all the ones on my 250 rearched, new bushings and an extra leaf put on the rear ones. It's a parts truck now and I took the front ones off of it a few weeks ago and put on my 350. It raised the front end up several inches because my old ones were so worn out.
They are both 4x4's. With the extra leaf on the 250 rear springs they have the same number of leafs now. I was wondering if they should have the same load capacity and work ok on the 350.
Right now my 350 is sititng dead level since I replaced the front ones. The rear overloads are only about an inch from touching the pads with about 1000 pounds of fuel in the back. The back end of the 250 is sitting much higher with about the same weight in lumber in it. Should I go and swap them too? I want it to sit level when I have my loaded down camper in the bed and it weighs about 3000 pounds full. Before I swapped the front springs it would sit level but it was really sagging low in the front back then.
The 250 should be about the same as your 350 (height wise) with those add-a-leafs... not sure why it sits higher. Does it have the 4" rear lift blocks by chance?
Well it's sitting much higher now. AND my caster angle is dead on!!!!
I took the rearched springs from the 250 and put them on the 350 using the factory overloads and tall factory lift blocks from the 350. It's pretty darn tall now.
I also discovered something else. I had to take off the lower end of the shocks when I started taking the springs off the 350. With the wheels on the ground the shocks were at their limit as far as extending any more. Those idiots at oreilleys gave me the wrong ones. They were rancho 5000's. I took the new ones off the f250 and put on after we finished the springs and they have about 3 inches of travel left in them sitting on the ground.
I'm so pissed at oreilleys now. I'm dropping my account with them. Their computer is so screwed up they couldn't look up a radiator for a 62 vw bug!
The 250 had 2 inch I think factory lift blocks on it. My 350 had 4 inch I believe. I didn't measure them. That camper sat in the truck for 8 years without ever coming out before I got it so the springs were just really settled out low I guess. Boy it rides nice now.
I have heard ford put 350 rear springs in some 250 trucks. What I actually heard was they didn't care about the rear, just put in whatever they had??? Don't know if that's true, but just passing on info I was told. I swear mine are 350 springs the way it rides and hauls but could be wrong.

I think that's what happened to my truck also, as the rear sits about 1.5" lower than the front with the Sky Mfg. 3" RSK installed. I need to look into getting them re-arched.
