Need some help! I've got a 2005 excursion w/ diesel motor. No one can figure out why the right front end hums/vibrates underneath. It sounds like I'm ridding on Mud tires. Nothing is bent underneath, Replaced tires, front end alignment etc..
It started last year in the summer when the A/C was running. In the fall I replaced the tires. I wasn't using the A/C and the noise went away. This summer when I started using the air again the hum/vibration sound came back. It sounds like it's coming from the right front tire traveling across to the left side.
I'm hoping someone else had this problem and was able to fix it.
That is what I thought, but from re-reading his original post it seems like it only happens while rolling?
Was thinking maybe needle bearings were starting to go out and grind down on the axel stub. My logic was that it started grinding last summer, but when it got cold it shrink and seized, so the axel was turning with the wheel. Now that it warmed up it expanded and has started grinding again. Kinda far fetched, but easy to check. Manually lock the right front hub and see if it stops.
No luck. When I locked the front hubs (I did both right and left hubs, separately) the hum/vibration stayed the same. Tried it with A/C on and off. The A/C on seems to make it louder. The tires don't seem to be wearing unevenly (yet)
