thanks for all the input everyone... i stopped at a tire shop and the guy there said that 285/75R18's should fit just fine. i guess we'll have to wait and see.
Well that was nearly 14 years ago and he’s been gone for over 4 years.
285/75/18 is 34.8” tall. You would need a 2.5” leveling kit for that. A 285/65/18 is 32.8” tall and will fot a stock truck with no mods needed.
33” or so and less wont need and mods. Once you get past 33.5” you will need a leveling kit. 35” and bigger will usually need a lift and aftermarket wheels.
35x11.50 will work with stock wheels and a leveling kit. So will 296/70/18 and 286/75/18. Results cab vary based on the age of the truck, worn shocks, payload, etc.
